As the Archives are stored outside of--and at a distance from--Plough Library, requests to view material must be made in advance.
It may take from 2-5 days to retrieve Archives material depending on the amount of material involved. Once retrieved, library staff will send a link to schedule viewing appointment(s).
Material will be held in the Library for no more than two weeks, unless other arrangements are made.
Archives material cannot be checked out; it must be used in the Library work room, under the supervision of a library staff member.
Small requests may be fillable by email alone.
Please email requests to archives@cbu.edu
Outside of the Br. I. Leo O'Donnell Archives, there are more resources that tell the story of Christian Brothers University and our Lasallian tradition.
The Irish Christian Brothers are a different order from the De La Salle Christian Brothers. Their archive is at the Christian Brothers Province Centre, which is part of the Edmund Rice Archives. Their site is unstable (http://www.edmundrice.eu/archives/) and may or may not be reachable.
However, the Christian Brothers’ Archive at the Province Centre holds material relating to the history, evolution and administration of the European Province. It includes archives of the Irish industrial schools and some other schools run by the Christian Brothers.
