The Brother I. Leo O'Donnell Archives include documents and records tracing the history of Christian Brothers University from its earliest days to the present. Materials include ledgers, catalogs, scrapbooks, documents, publications, photographs, graduation programs, objects, and audiovisual media.

The Archives houses two special collections:

  • The Edward F. Barry Collection
  • The Reverend John Joseph Higgins Collection

Policies for Using Physical Material from the Archives

As the Archives are stored outside of--and at a distance from--Plough Library, requests to view material must be made in advance. 

It may take from 2-5 days to retrieve Archives material depending on the amount of material involved. Once retrieved, library staff will send a link to schedule viewing appointment(s).

Material will be held in the Library for no more than two weeks, unless other arrangements are made. 

Archives material cannot be checked out; it must be used in the Library work room, under the supervision of a library staff member.

Small requests may be fillable by email alone.
