Book Returns

If you are a graduating senior and have books to return to the library, this is what you should do:

  • Per the president's e-mail of May 1, 2020, students "may request permission to come to campus to take care of essential matters by emailing“
  • Communicate through this email before coming to campus.
  • Once approved, you can put your books in the bookdrop on the front porch of Plough Library. We will check them in when library staff are allowed to come back to campus. You will not be charged any overdue fees.

For students who will return in the fall, we have extended your due dates to August 31, 2020. In the event campus remains closed at that time, we will extend the due dates again.

If you have interlibrary loans, we have extended the due date for interlibrary loan items to August 1, 2020. Across the country, libraries are waiving overdue fines and don’t expect their items to be returned until the majority of libraries are open and fully operational. Please keep your Interlibrary loan items until campus reopens. If you have questions about interlibrary loans, please contact Melissa Verble, Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, at 901-321-4018 or

Letter from the Director

To CBU Students, Faculty, and Staff:

As CBU transitions to online course delivery, Plough Library is adapting its services. Remember that our online resources include research databases, ejournals, ebooks, and streaming videos. All these and (digital) interlibrary loan should continue to be available for students and faculty to access. Soon, library staff will begin offering online chat reference, remote research consultations via WebEx, and more.

If you have library material checked out, we have extended all due dates on those items to August.

Starting Wednesday, March 18, Plough Library will be closed until further notice. Regardless of whether the library building is open, library staff will be available to help students and faculty via email, phone, or online. For now, please email us at or use our chat service if you have any questions. You can also call any of us at the numbers listed on the left hand side of the screen.

Take care,

Kay Cunningham
