Professional Associations

Many of the journals and conferences in civil and environmental engineering are published and organized by professional societies. Engineers are typically members of one or more of these societies, which help them keep up with research and trends in the field.

Many conferences publish their papers, which are usually indexed on the assocation's site.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
The largest professional organization of civil engineers in the world, ASCE organizes numerous conferences and special interest groups.
ASCE Library
The ASCE has published the conference proceedings, standards, journals, etc online. Most of their material is available for purchase only.
Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers
The TSPE is an organization of Tennessee professional engineers across all engineering disciplines. The TSPE organizes a conference and regional meetings.
IQS Directory: Engineering Associations
IQS, a directory of equipment manufacturers, also maintains a list of engineering associations across a wide range of disciplines.

IQS also has a list of industry councils and associations, many of which publish trade magazines and offer benefits to college students seeking to enter their industries.
