A De La Salle Christian Brother for 72 years, Brother Louis Althaus spent 45 of those years serving as a professor of electrical engineering and an administrator at Christian Brothers College and University. Among his titles were Assistant Director of the Computer Center (he was also one of the founders of the Computer Center), Chair of the Electrical Engineering department, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Special Assistant to the President.
He was also a good friend to the library, as shown by his willingness to be featured in a promotional READ poster for Plough Library in 2007.
